The department of English was established in the year of 1996. It imparts teaching in UG (Hons. and Gen.) and compulsory English as an interdisciplinary course. The department is headed by Prof. Shreya Talukdar. The other Part-Time faculties are Prof. Madhumita Chakraborty and Prof. Ajanta Hazra. Prof Animesh Roy, Prof. Biplab Mandal and Prof. Runa Chatterjee are serving the department as Guest Lecturer. Prof Basudeb Hazra is a senior visiting faculty of the department. The department has its own seminar library having 139 books for reading purposes. Lectures seminars and interactive sessions are adopted to improve student learning. They have a periodical wall magazine with a strong literature base to enrich the students. In the session of 2015-2016, 78% of students have successfully graduated from this department.
