Welcome to the Michael Madhusudan Memorial College Library in Durgapur! Our library is a vital part of the college, providing access to a wealth of knowledge and resources to support your academic pursuits. To ensure that everyone can use the library effectively and respectfully, we have established some rules and regulations. Please take a moment to read them carefully.
Library membership: All students, faculty, and staff of the college are eligible for library membership. The membership process includes completing a registration form, providing a passport size photograph, and presenting a valid college ID card.
Library hours: The library is open from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. During exam periods, the library may operate extended hours, which will be announced in advance.
Borrowing books: Students can borrow up to two books at a time for a period of two weeks. Faculty and staff can borrow up to five books for a period of one month. Books may be renewed for an additional period of time, provided that no one else has requested the book.
Late fees: Late fees will be charged for overdue books. For every day that a book is late, a fine of Rs 1 will be charged.
Lost or damaged books: Borrowers are responsible for the safekeeping of borrowed books. If a book is lost or damaged, the borrower will be required to pay for the replacement cost of the book.
Noise level: Please respect the needs of other library users and maintain a quiet atmosphere in the library. Group discussions are not permitted in the library.
Food and drink: Food and drink are not permitted in the library. Please finish your snacks and drinks outside the library before entering.
Personal belongings: Please do not bring large bags, backpacks, or other personal belongings into the library. A limited number of lockers are available for use. The library is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Computer and internet use: Computers are available for research and academic purposes only. Access to social media and other non-academic websites is not permitted.
Respect for library staff and property: Please treat library staff and property with respect. Any behavior that disrupts library services or the safety of library users will not be tolerated.
